Dr. Tod Aust has been in private practice in Louisiana for 3 years. He moved to Louisiana from Los Angeles after living in that area for much of his life. He attended Medical School at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. After graduating from medical school, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at the UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, Ca. He was honored as Resident of the Year. He then completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at UCLA.
Dr. Aust was mentored by one of the most recognized and respected Pain Management Specialists in the world. He is Board Certified in both Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management. While at UCLA, a major tertiary referral center on the West Coast, he gained extensive experience successfully treating rare conditions.
Dr. Aust learned to optimally manage patients with refractory pain, that were unsuccessfully treated by multiple providers over many years without relief, allowing those patients to finally live pain free. He is comfortable with a wide arsenal of both “bread and butter” and less often seen interventional techniques. He has significant experience with Spinal Cord Stimulation and is a national educator for Intrathecal Pump implantation and management.
He believes that most patients can achieve optimal pain management with little to no chronic oral opioids and uses interventions to reduce or eliminate oral opioid use.
Dr. Aust explains the importance of making the right diagnosis for getting someone off opioids.
